You may ask…Sammy what are you referring to by these “whispers”. Well these whispers or energies of communication come in a subtle form, because the mind is so powerful and often times loud, drowns these out. But, what is true to our soul requires some intense listening and softening of the mind in order for these whispers to be heard, felt and understood, lending to a change in course as and when it is needed.
Here are some ways to help get you into the space of being able to here these whispers and perhaps feel them in your body. I have explored these for myself and use them as part of my daily to further harness my deep inner knowing, it is with this knowing that we can move from always looking to others for their approval and opinions—to coming back home to what we know to be true for ourselves. How light and empowering does that feel in your body right now?!
1. From the moment you wake up, begin by just sitting in stillness with your hand on heart and allow your focus to be on your heart, feeling its beat, the rise and fall of your chest, this will the soften your entire body.
2. Automatic writing – after being in stillness grab a pen and notebook to journal. Begin to write by answering this prompting question- what do I need to know right now? This question begins the process of automatic writing, words, and perhaps images that come from your guides, inner knowing and that don’t come from the mind. This takes practice and for hearing and understanding those inner whispers and is recommended to be done daily.
3. Movement outdoors – I want you to look at this form of movement not as exercise or a chance to achieve an increased heart rate and toned body but rather see it as mindful/purposeful movement where by you take in you surrounds with all 5 senses, immersing yourself in each moment in nature. Mother Nature has an ability to bring harmony, soften and quiet the mind, all of which provides a container for our inner whispers to come through to our consciousness.
4. De-cluttering – this I feel is one we all need to remind ourselves of especially now that technology is so advanced in that we can tune in to other’s daily lives and experiences no matter what time of day or where we are. Signing off from looking at your phone, computer or television for a whole day or intermittently during each day allows for less mindless moments, along with a decrease in volume and an increase in sensing our whispers, which come from our soul or our inner knowing/guide(s).
These are four practices that have helped me tune in more to the whispers that for so long I haven’t heard or been aware of. Sometimes we aren’t ready to hear the truth of our soul however, by giving ourselves the chance to become acquainted with these whispers; we are becoming open to the possibility, open to the allowance and surrendering of what is, and of who we are and what we want. It’s a process of uncovering, softening and allowing the mind to take a back seat and for the whispers of our soul to dance a little louder, move us a little deeper and give us the opportunity to live as our truest expression.
